Abstract

Based on mode-matching technique (MMT), an analytical model with full-wave coupling for analysis of coaxial-type passive devices is established and used to design a coaxial coupler for 6-18GHz wide-band helical traveling wave tube (HTWT). In the analytical model, the complex power conservation of matching surfaces is studied deeply and the result witnesses a great compatibility. The simulation results from MMT are in quiet agreement with those from CST MWS, HFSS and MTSS. Finally, a 6-18GHz coaxial coupler with a reasonable VSWR less than 1.2 is obtained and the VSWR of the coupler connected with the HTWT is less than 1.4.
