Abstract

An extended interaction klystron (EIK) based on “Pre-Bunch”(PB) cavity structure working at 0.34 THz is proposed. Compared with the conventional EIK design, the PB-cavity structured EIK has higher electron interaction efficiency. In this paper, the electron bunching state of the PB-cavity EIK structure and the traditional EIK structure are investigated. The 3-D particle-in-cell(PIC) simulation predicts the EIK output power with electron beam at 0.20A, 22.4kV in a 0.2mm diameter electron channel, and produced an output power of 138.3W. Gain, electronic efficiency, and 3dB bandwidth are 39.6dB, 3.09%, and 500MHz, respectively.
