Abstract

In this paper, a 220GHz folded waveguide traveling wave tube (FW-TWT) was designed based on theory and simulation. Firstly, the FW-TWT was analyzed by small signal theory. The small signal gain varying with the beam voltage and current was solved by the small signal theory. Then the FW-TWT was simulated by the Particle-in-cell (PIC) simulation. The output power varying with voltage and frequency was simulated. According to the theory calculation and simulation, the performance of the 220GHz FW-TWT can be predicted.
