Abstract

In order to evaluate the performance of high voltage bushing transformers, it is essential to consider the Electric Field and Voltage Distribution (EFVD). These days, condenser oil impregnated paper (OIP) bushings make up most of the high voltage power transformer bushings. These bushings contain several layers of aluminum foil and dielectric layers, which are present between two conductive layers so that it improves electric field uniformity. Design of 145 kV OIP-based transformer bushing is done using ANSYS MAXWELL, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is used to evaluate the bushing performance. This work may help in the design of high voltage condenser bushing. With the help of design, stress can be controlled by providing knowledge of the distribution of the electric field in bushing geometry. The results show the distribution of electric field and voltage along aluminum foil. The simulated results are promising.
