Abstract

This paper consists of two main parts. The first part is scientific-oriented and introduces a new design methodology approach which was originally inspired by TRIZ principles and has been developed within the former author's research environment. The aim of the methodology is to systematically support the development of new and innovative solutions in manufacturing technologies, based on herein identified principles of process hybridization. Although the methodology was developed within the focus of manufacturing process technologies, it can be used also for the development of applications in other domains which can be traced back to the general principles of process modelling. Thus in a second part of the paper it is discussed from an industrial perspective the use of the design approach for developments in non-traditional LED-lighting applications.
