Abstract

Transformation acoustics cloaks can be realized using microstructured pentamode materials, but systematic design method and criteria are still missing. Based on the analytical formula of equivalent mechanical parameters, this paper presents a design method of honeycomb pentamode circular cloak for linear mapping. The finite element analysis is adopted to verify this method. The results show that under the condition of long wavelength homogenization, the stealth performance of the designed pentamode cloak is close to that of the ideal cloak, which proves the effectiveness of the design method. Three inequalities based on extreme values are also proposed as infeasibility criteria. For any linearly mapped honeycomb PM circular cloak design, it cannot be achieved when either inequality holds, which helps to quickly rule out impossible options.
