Abstract

Interior permanent magnet synchronous motors (IPMSMs) are widely used because they have high efficiency and high power. To generalize the design method and reduce the design time, an automatic IPMSM design system using a genetic algorithm (GA) and coarse-mesh finite element method (FEM) was proposed in previous research. In addition, we previously proposed a new algorithm to improve the design system, and showed the superiority of the proposed system by designing IPMSMs for reducing torque ripple. In this study, we design IPMSMs with large high-efficiency operation areas using the proposed system and a conventional system with the same settings. As a result, the usefulness of the proposed system was confirmed.
