Abstract

Design and installation of an experimental cavity just above the central subassembly in Fast Breeder Test Reactor has been accomplished. This paper describes the modification details of the central canal plug towards the FFEF and the calculation of the radiation dose burden due to the activation of the construction materials as well as of its associated impurities themselves, if any was calculated. Various safety aspects such as reactivity change in core, heating effects, contamination possibility, heat effect on aluminum foils for the irradiation of actinide and activation foils in FFEF were reported. Neutron flux measurements were carried out in this facility at 25 kWt power using foil activation method.
