Abstract

April 01 2011 Design in Informal Economies: Craft Neighborhoods in Istanbul Cigdem Kaya, Cigdem Kaya Çigdem Kaya, born and raised in Istanbul, received MFA from New Genres from The San Francisco Art Institute, USA in 2006 and BSc in Industrial Design from Istanbul Technical University in 2003. Kaya has been residing and working in Istanbul as a researcher at Istanbul Technical University, Department of Industrial Product Design where she recently completed her PhD studies on design interventions for crafts since 2007. Kaya is a Fulbright alumna. She works as a full-time instructor at the Industrial Design Department at Kadir Has University. She pursues her PhD studies in Art History at Istanbul Technical University.
