Abstract

Steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) has demonstrated valuable structural properties that should be formally acknowledged in building code design formulas. This paper revews existing English-language literature on torsional performance of SFRC, with and without conventional reinforcement, and proposes design formulas for torsion following the format currently adopted in ACI 318. As a result of existing laboratory experience and the conservativeness of the proposed modifications, the new formulas for torsion design of rectangular cross section beams should be acceptable to the professional community.
