Abstract

In this paper we study a problem for traffic circle design, that is, to minimize the vehicle's average delay time and the occurrence probability of traffic accidents. We provide two different control methods: the traffic lights control and the signs control. The traffic lights control is a fixed time control, while the signs control is a dynamic control depending on the actual traffic flow. According to different traffic flow, we choose different traffic-control methods to obtain an optimal solution.
