Abstract

Since 1976 a universal 60Co irradiation unit of the PANORAMA type has been available at the Central Institute of Isotope and Radiation Research, Leipzig. The great geometrical variety of the PANORAMA unit permits very different irradiation conditions. To use this flexibility and for optimum arrangement of the sources an extensive computer-aided evaluation by means of the code DOSKMF2 was developed and has successfully been applied. Some experience of the last 10 years in relation to the use, maintenance, limitations, efficiency and to the computer-aided evaluation of the PANORAMA unit as well as to the design of industrial facilities is summarized.
