Abstract

This paper presents complete characterization of a printed dipole on a grounded dielectric substrate and in an infinite array environment. Specifically, the effect of substrate thickness, strip width, dielectric constant on resonant input impedance and resonant length are computed and plotted as design curves. Moreover, the effect of delta-gap and inter-element spacing on the input impedance of the strip dipole is also explored. Finally, a novel reflectarray unit-cell design example is proposed where a coupled-line balun is used as a phase tuning element of the reflectarray.
