Abstract

SYNOPSIS A simple model of blade twisting was used in conjunction with a wind turbine rotor performance model to predict the ability of a self-twisting blade to regulate the speed of a small wind turbine. The results were used in order to establish guidelines for some of the design choices for such a turbine, particularly with regard to blade shape.
