Since his retirement in May 1953, he has been engaged as a consulting engineer in Baltimore. During World War II he was attached to the South Pacific Command, later serving as officer in charge of shipbuilding and ship repairs in New Zealand and commanding officer of the U. S. forces in Auckland. The late King of England invested him as an Honorary Officer of the Military Division of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. He was also made an Honorary Commander in H. M. New Zealand Coast Guard and for his service in the South Pacific he was decorated with the Bronze Star Medal.
