Abstract
In order to develop a design method for the geogrid reinforced soil wall not based on the theory of rigid-plasticity but taking account of the displacement dependence property of pull-out resistance of geogrid in soil, the design charts for checking the wall displacement, the settlement of the backfill surface and the vertical stress in foundation ground under the wall were prepared by using the finite element method. The use of these design charts makes it possible to investigate the amount of deformation of the reinforced soil wall and the stability for bearing failure of the foundation ground easily and quickly for the relatively simple design condition.
