Abstract

An analytical model and design method of high ratio medium frequency transformer is proposed for modular multilevel resonant DC-DC converter used in subsea cable ocean observation system to realize high efficiency, high reliability and high power-density. In this design algorithm the loss and thermal model of medium frequency transformer are derived. Based on these models, the optimal design method of high ratio medium frequency transformer is proposed to realize the multi-objective optimization of power density, efficiency and parasitic parameters of the design result. And the thermal finite element analysis result is demonstrated to verify the developed model and design method.
