Abstract

Metal oxide arresters (MOA) are important devices for overvoltage protection in power system. Despite accurate detection of leakage current plays an important role in accurately determining the operating status of MOA, the leakage current detection system still bears its low accuracy. In order to solve the problem above, this paper develops a high-precision MOA leakage current detection system. In this paper, the designed idea of the leakage current detection system, the internal iron core shape of the device and amplitude and frequency characteristics of CT, the current-voltage conversion, optical and electrical isolation amplifiers, ±5V power supply, and protection circuit are analyzed in detail. In laboratory, the function generator is used to output the simulated leakage current signal to test the detection system. The results show that the linear correlation of the test data of the leakage current detection system reaches 99.997%, and the relative error does not exceed 0.80%. The leakage current detection system developed in this paper provides a reliable solution for on-line detection of MOA leakage current in power system.
