Abstract

This review paper discusses parameters and variations in microwave oven design for household usage. as well as patterns of consumer use and suggestions for optimum user satisfaction. Market survey data show microwave oven owners are employing it as a supplement to conventional cooking devices, with a tendency to smaller portion cooking and usage for leftovers. Only 10% of cooked or heated foods eaten in households having a microwave oven was prepared in that oven. Glass is the best all-around utensil material, although higher-priced plastics (polysulfones and thermoset-filled polyesters) work well.
