Abstract

The data transfer under a priority controlled Total Frame Protocol on a ring bus system and its timing analysis are described. The priority scheduler is implemented by a programmable bypass channel in the slave units, which are controlled by function bits in the telegram status sequences. A combination of various signal encodings is employed in order to achieve higher redundancy of the data transmitted. Consequently, the different kinds of signal encoding guarantee safe detection of the data signals and more economic data transfer. Finally, the worst case transmission times and the maximum delay bounds for the two modes of data transmission are analysed.
