Abstract

This paper provides practical guidelines for the design and testing of power system network equivalents programs suitable for real - time applications. First, the general problem of network equivalencing is reviewed and the major solution techniques are summarized. Then, program design criteria are presented which cover the steps required to develop and implement network equivalents software. A testing scenario is described along with the computational procedures necessary to assess the accuracy, reliability and flexibility of the model. In addition, the paper summarizes the experimental results of an actual implementation of the proposed methodology.
