Abstract

In order to improve the operating performance of vacuum seed-meter, a gravity-assisted seed filling method is provided. The radial components of seeds gravitational force and upper seeds pressure of seeds to be filled are consistent with the direction of drag force. Components of the seeds pressure and the gravity of seeds to be filled play an auxiliary role in seed filling. A gravity-assisted seed filling vacuum seed mater is designed, and the gravity-assisted seed filling mechanism and working principle are described. Operating performance of the designed seed-meter was evaluated by a two-factor indoor laboratory test and a single factor outdoor field test. Qualified index, double index, and missing index were estimated. Optimal working parameters combination of laboratory tests for operating velocity and air pressure were 6km/h and -4.5kPa respectively. Maximum field operating velocity was 9.48km/h. Optimum field operating velocity was 7.68km/h and qualified index, double index, missing index were 92.43%, 0.67%, and 6.9% respectively at this velocity.
