Abstract

Microwave breast imaging (MBI) uses low power and longer wavelength signals to obtain information about breast tissues and it provides a safer and more accurate modality for regular breast scanning. One of the limitations of this technology has been a large signal reflection from the breast skin. A method to reducing the effect of signal reflection from the breast skin by placing the antenna in-contact with the breast skin and it reduces the signal scattering from the skin and also more transmitted signal is irradiated on the tumor, thus inceasing tumor detection sensitivity which helps to find the location of the tumor accurately. The 1×8 array of micro strip phased array antennas is designed for finding the location of tumor in the breast based on the scattering parameters. the operating frequency is at 2.4GHZ(ISM band) and antenna parameters like efficiency, radiation pattern and directivity are improved using ADS software.
