Abstract
The proposed structure introduces the design concept of Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) fed metamaterial loaded patch antenna to enhance the gain of the conventional printed patch antenna for X-band military applications. The comparison between conventional and proposed SIW fed patch antenna using metamaterial structure is shown on the basis of parameters such as gain, bandwidth, efficiency, directivity and return loss. The Proposed SIW antenna resonates in X-band at frequency of 9.07 GHz with side by side configuration of CSRR (Complimentary Split-ring resonators). The animus of the study is to provide the effect of metamaterial loading with the help of the CSRRs structures on SIW fed patch antenna. The gain enhancement in proposed SIW fed patch antenna using metamaterial is from 8. 6 dB to 9.68 dB as compared to conventional SIW antenna.
