Abstract

A duel-concentric-core photonic crystal fibers (DCC-PCF) have been proposed and demonstrated with pure silica as substrate and air holes as cladding materials. The finite element method with perfectly matched absorbing layers boundary condition is used to investigate the guiding properties. The chromatic dispersion and propagation characteristics of DCC-PCF have been simulated systemically. A very high negative chromatic dispersion value-106040 ps/nm/km and nearly zero 0.373 dB/km confinement loss can be achieved at 1.55 μm wavelength by using the modest number of design parameters with very simple core-cladding design. Moreover, the fundamental mode and second mode also described elaborately.
