Abstract

In this paper a CCMPA (Conventional Circular Microstrip Patch Antenna) and CMPA (Circular Microstrip Patch Antenna) with U - Slot are designed and simulated to resonate in LTE Band 3 (1.805GHz-1.880GHz) which is a Downlink operating band. The various parameters such as Return Loss, Gain, Directivity, Bandwidth, VSWR, Antenna Efficiency, Radiation Efficiency, and Impedance for proper matching are observed for two designed antennas at resonant frequency 1.8GHz. The two antennas are also simulated with varying air gap and various results are obtained for LTE Band 43 (3.6GHz-3.8GHz) which is an Unpaired LTE Band. There is good improvement in Antenna Parameters by using Air Gap Technique. The antennas are designed and simulated using IE3D software. The substrate used in these designs is FR-4 (Flame Retardant) Substrate with Dielectric Constant of 4.4, thickness of 1.6mm and Loss Tangent of 0.002. The frequency range for LTE Application used is from 0.5GHz-4GHz.
