Abstract

Wind power has become the most paramount energy source amongst the green sources over the past few decades. The essential quandary that averts the integration of this energy into the grid is the voltage fluctuation and low stability of the wind turbine engenderers (WTG). These difficulties can be solved by utilizing contrivances commonly kenned as FACTS (Flexible Alternate Current Transmission Systems), more concretely the Static synchronous compensator (STATCOM), which uses the principle of reactive power injection or absorption into the system. In this paper we propose a study, over Muhuri Dam wind Farm (Bangladesh) about the amendment of its stability, Ride through fault capability and minimization of voltage fluctuation utilizing STATCOM. The STATCOM used is IGBT predicated PWM Cascade inverter that employs an early control system which gives some extra advances over the conventional STATCOMs.
