Abstract

This paper researched a kind of cylindrically conformai microstrip patch antenna array with series feed network for the telemetry application on missile. The design procedure of feed network of the conformal microstrip patch antenna is simple, which suitable for the research and development of the large scale conformal antenna array. The required amplitude and phase excitations of the conformal antenna elements were realized by designing the dimension parameters of the series feed network. In order to reveal the proposed feed method, a cylindrically conformal microstrip patch antenna array with five elements was designed and simulated by using the full wave electromagnetic simulation software, and the specific simulation results were provided. The simulated voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) was lower than 2 within the frequency range of from 2.24GHz to 2.26GHz. The simulated gains at considered space range can satisfy the requirements. The proposed design method of series feed method for the conformal antenna array can provide a reference for the practical engineering application.
