Abstract
The underwater (UW) communication environment (underwater channel) is significantly different from other environments such as wireless communication channels due to the severe signal distortion caused by multipath propagation and the high temporal and spatial variability of channel conditions. This increases the number of parameters to consider when designing an underwater telephone (UWT). In this study, an UWT design and basic technical features and capabilities are discussed. The designed UWT's operating frequency ranges are 2-40 kHz for the lower sideband and 5-43 kHz for the upper sideband. It offers three different adjustable output power: 10 W, 50 W and 100 W for broadcasting at different distance ranges. With this study, it is aimed to shed light on the design and production activities of underwater communication systems targeted in line with the needs of our country.
