Abstract

A monitoring system, which is used to capture the surge current induced by the direct channel of lightning inside the aircraft, is introduced in this paper. The design parameters are first clarified by analyzing the waveform characteristics from existing standards. Through comparing several pulse current detecting methods, the Rogowski coil is considered appropriate and selected. The coil equivalent circuit model is constructed, and the design parameter of external-integral mode is described by time-frequency domain analysis. The optical transceiver is introduced from two aspects: principle circuit of electro-optical conversion or reverse and selection of core components. The external-integral Rogowski coil and optical transceiver are manufactured. The time domain coefficient of the coil and the frequency response characteristic of transceiver are calibrated respectively. The tested results indicate the presented monitoring system meets the requirement of 10 -3 s pulse width, >10 3 A surge current detection.
