Abstract

Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication systems is known to provide diversity and coding gain over that of a single-input single-output (SISO) system. Furthermore, automatic repeat request (ARQ) provides time diversity and improves the performance and reliability. In this paper, we propose and investigate hybrid ARQ (HARQ) scheme based on non-orthogonal space-time block codes (NOSTBC) and is using a decoding candidate list which reduces the detection/decoding complexity. Our proposed schemes are compared to orthogonal space-time block codes (OSTBC) and the obtained results show a significant performance gain when using NOSTBC-based ARQ scheme.
