Abstract

This paper deals with the design and development of the Bladeless Wind Turbine (BWT).In the upcoming years the BWT will contribute more to the power extraction developments in the Wind Energy sector. Mostly Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine were used in wind energy for producing power in offshore and onshore, because the BWT is new emerging technology and it is different from the other wind turbines without blades. Bladeless Wind turbine is advantageous since it will not make the wake effect and will not compromise in terms of efficiency. These types of turbines can be used for wind-hydro plant which can be more feasible and it will reduce cost and noise. Tower, nacelle, blades are the major parts of HAWT & VAWT but the bladeless turbine which consists of only semi cylindrical rigid body with the mast. The aerodynamic design of BWT is carried out and analysis along with optimization with various parameters such as diameter, length, height, etc is also done in this paper. Simulation analysis of the designed model is done with Auto CAD and ANSYS. By A comparative study of different materials that can be used for blade construction has been studied through FEM based analysis and the most suitable material meant for BWT is selected.
