Abstract

ABSTRACT This paper describes the design, implementation and operation of a CO2 tertiary pilot in the Means San Andres Unit, Andrews County, Texas. The pilot consisted of five wells on 1.5 acres. Detailed geological studies showed the reservoir to be more heterogeneous than broader studies had indicated. Pilot operations and evaluation were complicated by a dual permeability zone. Special tests to define this interval are described. Evidence of additional oil recovery was shown from both log analysis and fluid samples.
