Abstract

Peak current-mode control (PCC) can be used to achieve adaptive voltage positioning (AVP) for voltage regulator module applications but is seldom used because of problems with output voltage offset and poor line regulation. A novel high-gain peak current-mode (HGPCC) AVP scheme was recently reported to correct the aforementioned offset problems while retaining advantages of peak current-mode such as easy phase-current balancing and inherently cycle-to-cycle protection. Without an analytical model, however, itpsilas very hard to achieve prescribed characteristics using this complicated scheme. In this paper, a control model will be presented for this scheme. Key equations for converter feedback performances and rules for compensating the feedback loop will be presented. The model was experimentally verified.
