Abstract

Three phase Voltage source inverter (VSI) is capable of generating sinusoidal three phase output voltage and is widely needed in grid connected converters and motor drives. It converts DC power supply to three phase voltage and feeds three phase load. The modulation method for VSI can be phase shift modulation, pulse width modulation (PWM) and space vector modulation (SVPWM). SVPWM has advantages in the free arrangement of voltage vectors and easy implementation. In this paper, a space vector controlled voltage source inverter is investigated. It is simulated by Matlab and validated by experiment. The model of VSI in dq frame is analyzed and classical two loop control is implemented. The simulation and experimental results show that the VSI generates controllable and smooth three phase output voltages.
