Abstract

Internet of Things (IoT) and Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) technologies can be used to implement smart home. IoT connects home devices to the internet through Wi-Fi to be remotely controlled and monitored. WSN technology clusters sensors and actuators that sense and collect data from different parts of the smart home and place them at a central location. In this paper, smart home design and implementation have been introduced using IoT and WSN technologies. The design was simulated first using the Cisco Packet Tracer simulation software, and then the Raspberry PI mini-computer board has been used for the hardware implementation part. Different devices and sensors used to implement smart home safety, security, and control functions have been simulated, implemented, and tested to check their reliability in implementing the smart home.
