Abstract

The bit permutation unit consists of bit permutation network and configuration information. In the article, a configuration information parallel extraction algorithm with time complexity O (log <sup xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</sup> N) based on Waksman network is presented to achieve not only bit permutation system on reconfigurable cipher microprocessors but also an arbitrary N × N bit permutation. This algorithm can support bit permutation operations in block cipher algorithm and stream cipher algorithm, and occupy less hardware resources.
