Abstract

This paper presents a simple way of designing a low cost microcontroller based 1-phase induction motor drive. This controller is intended to drive a Induction motor at any desired speed and at any load within its rated value. The microcontroller ATMEG328P is used. In this paper, a speed control scheme of single phase induction motor using Hall Effect sensors is proposed. Hall Effect sensors detect the rotor position and drive the motor with microcontroller based thyristor control circuit which is used for speed control of induction motor. The main objective is to provide a closed loop feedback by a Hall Effect sensor to the controller .triac circuit is used to vary the output according to the controller signal. Speed response and performance evaluation has been verified with different speed and external disturbances.
