Abstract

Affordable health care is very important in the maintenance of good health. Periodic monitoring of heart rate (pulse rate) and oxygen saturation in the blood (SPO2) is key in the evaluation of the seriousness of many cardiac and lungs disease particularly in Covid patients but such life-saving devices are still very costly. This research work aims to offer the design and implementation of a low-cost IoT-enabled Heart rate and SPO2 Monitoring system for remote health monitoring. The system is developed around the NODEMCU microcontroller, Max30102 pulse oximeter sensor, OLED display, and battery charging module. Home/Institutional quarantine patients suffering from Covid19 exhibit many challenges regarding their health monitoring due to the very contagious nature of the virus and miss support on time assistance in case of emergency. Due to the Highly infectious nature of the Covid19 virus, visiting patients is restricted, and doctors/ family members are not aware of the present condition of patients, so IoT-enabled remote monitoring of their health parameters is very helpful in-patient care.
