Abstract

Interleaver design has a key role in the performance of short block length Turbo codes. The structure of the component encoder of Turbo codes can be used as a design criterion while implementing an interleaver. This criterion led to the introduction of sub-vector interleaver and sub-vector constrained S-random interleaver. This paper introduces a modified interleaver design which exploits the encoder structure and results in performance improvement. A Turbo CODEC with the proposed interleaver has been implemented in GNU Radio platform.
