Abstract

The main purpose of this paper is to implement a high efficiency 3kW inverter with hybrid modulation method. Bipolar modulation and unipolar modulation are commonly applied for single-phase inverter. Compared with bipolar and unipolar modulation, hybrid modulation has advantages of low switching loss and high efficiency. The three modulation methods mentioned above are compared by their total loss, efficiency, total harmonic distortion (THD), common mode voltage and leakage current. In order to achieve the output power of 3kW, two-phase interleaved high-frequency switching legs are utilized to disperse the current, so as to increase the output power of the circuit and reduce the output ripple. In this paper, a 3kW hybrid modulation interleaved inverter is implemented, and the experimental result is demonstrated. The highest measured efficiency can reach 98.9%.
