Abstract

Input method editors (IMEs) are software components that allow a user to type text in a language that has more characters than can be represented on a keyboard. They are more important in East Asia. Once the IME interface is researched clearly, the third-party can develop various IMEs. Evolving of Microsoft Windows OS (operating system) IME interface is introduced, and the differences in each windows OS's IME are explained. Then, the TSF (Text Services Framework) architecture and its interface are discussed in detail. A Chinese IME based on TSF is designed and implemented, it realized the seamless integration of the IME and Windows 8/8.1/10 applications, include desktop applications and Windows Store applications. Some precautions and details of the course of the design, implementation and registration are described.
