Abstract

The VIENNA Rectifier has emerged as a reduced switching alternative to conventional six switch rectifier. The major contribution of this work is the development of a hardware for Fuzzy Logic based three phase VIENNA Rectifier. To simulate the performance of the VIENNA fed D.C motor system, a MATLAB simulation is proposed. Further hardware for VIENNA Rectifier is developed using the IXYS-25 IGBT modules, Hybrid Gate Driver ICs and Spartan6 FPGA. The developed model is able to maintain an average power factor of 0.9 under various load conditions. In conventional IGBT Driver, ICs like MC33153 or Transistor based driver circuit will only work in the range of +15 to – 5V drive level and hence we suggest a driver circuit to operate in the range of +20V to –20V.
