Abstract

A model to build a cooperative vehicle and infrastructure system that is suitable for today's national conditions in China is proposed in this study. The concept is based on the IEEE 802.11n infrastructure and ad hoc network technology with the assistance of China Telecom Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) 2000 3G cellular network technology. The advantages of these technologies include orthogonal frequency division multiplexing and multiple input–multiple output applications. The availability of the new cooperative vehicle and infrastructure system structure has been verified by three scenario experiments: CDMA 2000 network scenario, IEEE 802.11n infrastructure network scenario, and an ad hoc network scenario. Many factors, such as mobile speed, distance between wireless devices, and access mode, which may influence the quality of communication, are discussed. Several applications of this system are introduced. Future work is described.
