Abstract

The authors present an effective design algorithm for analysis-synthesis filter banks with computationally efficient structures. Although a wide variety of implementation structures can be accommodated, the focus is on filter banks with cosine kernels. The design procedure is based on a time-domain formulation of the analysis-synthesis filter bank in which the individual channel filters are constrained to be cosine modulated versions of a baseband filter. The resulting filters are very efficient in terms of computational requirements and are relatively easy to design. Some design examples are included as well as a discussion of their associated computational properties. >
