Abstract

Safety is one of the most important requirements of home for people. Burglary or outbreak of fire may cause serious consequences in terms of finance and life safety. The paper designs and implements an IOT enabled wireless home security system using Raspberry Pi (RPI) to make residences more secure. The home security system is full-featured including real-time video surveillance, email notification when visitors detected, opening the door through face recognition, monitoring smoke in rooms and alerting. A Raspberry Pi with two cameras, a passive infrared (PIR) sensor and an ultrasonic sensor is placed in front of the door. A NodeMcu with a smoke detection sensor is placed in rooms. The two microcontrollers can send data through Internet to a server and then data can show on the APP. Users can monitor their home and respond according to situations through the APP from anywhere in the world.
