Abstract

Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) is a communication technology employing multiple transmit antennas and multiple receive antennas to exploit spatial diversity. MIMO has become an essential element of wireless communication standards including IEEE 802.11n, IEEE 802.11ac, HSPA+, WiMAX, and Long Term Evolution networks. This paper propose an architecture design and implementation for hard output 2×2 MIMO detector employing BPSK modulation. The proposed receiver consists of MMSE based channel estimation followed by demodulation and decoding. The performance of 2×2 MIMO trans receiver is evaluated by bit error rate characteristics. Simulation of transmitter and channel is done using MATLAB and simulation of receiver architecture is performed using Xilinx. The developed architecture is suitably implemented in Spartan 3E kit.
