Abstract

MIAB (Magnetically Impelled Arc Butt Welding) is a cutting-edge welding procedure that replaces traditional welding methods such as friction, flash, resistance, and butt welding. MIAB welding is a solid-state welding technique used to create butt connections and hollow cylindrical parts like pipes and tubes. This method uses a revolving electric arc to heat the ends of two tubes, which is propelled by the electromagnetic force formed by the interaction of the arc current with the magnetic field produced by an external magnetic field. Two to be welded tubes are held together with suitable alignment. The MIAB welding magnetic systems generate the required magnetic flux in the arc gap. The goal of this project is to design, manufacture, and test a Magnetically Impelled Arc Butt (MIAB) welding equipment.
