Abstract

A double microstrip meander line (DMML) slow wave structure (SWS) for terahertz (THz) band traveling wave tube (TWT) is proposed in this paper. The DMML combines two symmetrically distributed microstrip meander line (MML) to provide a broaden transverse width for better interaction with sheet electron beam. The results of design and fabrication are reported. Electromagnetic characteristics show high slow wave factor and wide band operating for DMML SWS. Finished samples are fabricated by microfabrication processes based on magnetron sputtering, UV-lithography and ion beam etching.
