Abstract

Abstract Today waste has become one of the biggest problem in the ecosystem due to the way people dispose it. Garbage is usually buried or burnt. These methods of disposal further worsen the state of environment. The solution to this problem can be recycle and reuse. Segregation is the most important step for the waste treatment. Diverse waste materials have to be treated in different ways. It can be segregated as biodegradable waste and inorganic dry waste. Biodegradable waste can be kept in free land for composting. Non-biodegradable waste can be further recycled or can be treated separately. Currently, the traditional is to separate manually using different containers for each kind of waste, unfortunately, it does not always work. Developing a mechanized system to help save the lives of many and making the world a cleaner and a greener place is the noble objective of our project. An automatic waste segregator that aims at segregating the waste at the disposal level itself is designed to sort the waste into 3 major categories, namely metallic, recyclable and biodegradable, thereby making waste management more effective.
